Week 1: HUMANITY: A Celebration of All Things Artistic and Altruistic

This year marks Cedar Valley Habitat for Humanity's 25th anniversary and we have several events and projects planned to celebrate this milestone. One such project includes: "25 Years of Stories." Each Tuesday for 25 weeks (July 2 - December 17), a story will be posted right here, featuring insights from volunteers, homeowners, past board members, community leaders, staff and YOU!

If you have a story about a touching home dedication, an amazing volunteer day out on the build site or an interesting bit of history from Cedar Valley Habitat's last 25 years, we want to hear from you!!! Please see the column to the left for a spot to submit your stories. If you're not a writer, that's okay - send some contact information along and I'd love to hear your story myself! This is, and has always been, a community centered, volunteer driven organization. The "25 Years of Stories" project is to be no different.

Another project that we have in the works is called "HUMANITY: A Celebration of All Things Artistic and Altruistic." See below for entry details and as always, thank you for your support.
Blessings,

Several participants have already begun pieces to enter as part of the HUMANITY project. Amy Myers says, "Habitat continues to think of fresh, innovative ways to allow community members of all skill levels to get directly involved with helping out others in the community. The Humanity Art Project is another great way to serve others and show love and support."

We are accepting entries for HUMANITY until July 20th, 2013. There are two separate calls for entry:
  • Small Snapshot Gallery - these will be displayed year round in ReStore. These are photos of build sites, ReStore, recipients of aid from Habitat for Humanity, etc. Images can also be uploaded to instagram, #crhumanity.
  • 'Works for Humanity' - artwork of any size/media that will be consided for publication in Habitat for Humanity's 2014 calendar. 'Works for Humanity' will be auctioned off and the proceeds will be returned to Habitat for Humanity. Preared for display. Full-sized jpegs must also be included at 300dpi. Images can be related to any aspect of Habitat's work, not just limited to build sites. See below for a sample of such work.
